It was the senior winners’ adviser Andy Carter who revealed this win in a statement, calling the news brilliant.

Looks like there wasn’t just a jackpot winner, someone also won the Millionaire Marker Selection. The winner landed with £1 million.

However, winners and players are reminded to intelligently expand their windfall. Large sums of money can get challenging to manage with some lottery winners ending up losing or spending it all quickly. It can also drive one to socially isolate themselves from the rest of the world. Some winners experience a flood of unwanted demands for money so they end up cutting themselves off from others. And fortune may actually make one unkinder. In a study, partakers played a fixed game of monopoly, where the experimenters made some participants rich quickly. The wealthy participants started condescending to the inferior players and monopolized the snacks they were meant to distribute.

But just because an enormous influx of cash isn’t sure to bring pleasure doesn’t mean that money can never make one better off. Human beings acclimate to material things, such as new vehicles or bigger and better homes much faster than they do to experiences. These experiences could include visiting a new place or acquiring a new talent or ability. By this logic the more money one expends on experiences rather than belongings, the happier one will feel.

Another way to turn money into happiness is by spending it on other people. For the purposes of research, some participants were given some money and were told to either spend it on others or themselves. Later when researchers called the partakers to know how happy they were the results were surprising. The contentment levels of those who spent money on someone else were considerably more than that of those who spent it on themselves.

This holds true around the world as was revealed in another study. This survey took into account people from 136 countries. The results exhibited that in more than 90% of these countries people who spent their money on others were happier than those who didn’t.
