The 73-year-old Carrig informed the officials that he is not into playing lottery games at all. The tickets he purchased for Mega Millions were just a coincidence as he had some extra cash and decided to go for a few tickets.
The player stated that he purchased the tickets on his way back after visiting his son’s place so he stopped by at the Meijer Gas Station. He stated that he pays his son a visit every now and then so the people at the gas station know him very well.
After he had purchased what he needed from the store, he had some change left so decided to go for the tickets. Although he did not both the game that much and knew he could go with the Quick Pick option, he still went for the manual pick.
According to Carrig, he had purchased five Mega Millions lottery tickets worth $10 and brought them home. The next day he had completely forgotten about them and then things went as normal. He paid several visits to his son’s house and every time, he visited the store.
However, just recently, the store cashier asked him if he had checked the tickets to see if he had won something. The cashier had heard that a player from Lake County had won a prize but still had not showed up to claim it.
What the cashier had him thinking but he could not remember where he had put the tickets. He went back home and searched all over the house until he finally found them in the basket on the dining table.
He started checking all the tickets one by one but none of them match except for the fifth one that turned into a million-dollar prize for him.
The player stated he plans to give a small reward to the cashier for reminding him of the prize but did not mention how much. Then the next thing on the list is to buy his dream car and enjoy his retirement.
