The United Kingdom National Lottery recently made an announcement that has surprised the entire lottery community. The National Lottery group announced that there are several prizes worth a lot that are still waiting for their winners to come up and claim.
The Lottery group stated that there are millions of pounds in the form of prizes that are just sitting unclaimed. It is therefore urging the players to come up and claim the prizes before the prize claim period expires.
At present, the National Lottery allows a winner to appear and claim their prize money within 180-days from the time of the draw being held. This rule applies to all the players so no matter it is a player who has won a free ticket or has won millions of pounds.
The National Lottery group has also added a ‘Claim Prize’ section to their website in order to make sure that none of the winners face any difficulties in claiming their prizes. The portal also provides guidelines to winners that whether they have to visit the retailer to claim the prize or the particular lottery’s office.
The National Lottery team stated that it is completely the winner’s decision as to when he/she wishes to come and collect the prize money. However, the average period in which the winners have been observed claiming their prizes are the first couple of weeks.
On top of this, the National Lottery has set up an internal protocol where a winner of a major lottery prize. As per the protocol, if the prize winner does not show up within two weeks of the draw, the National Lottery reaches out itself. To do this, the National Lottery team reveals the part of the country where the particular ticket was sold from.
The same has been the case for a lottery winner from Walsall who has won a prize of £1 Million. The National Lottery has recently launched an appeal to reach out to the £1 Million winner from the draw held on September 18, 2020. As per the National Lottery, the winner from Walsall is yet to make an appearance.
